  4. The author of this program (Bobby's First Letters) is not liable for 
  5. any damages due to the use, misuse, or inability to use this 
  6. program.  Bobby's First Letters is supplied strictly "as is".

  8. WHAT IS BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS?
  9.  
  10. BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS is designed to help children learn their letter sounds.
  11. The program has three modes of operation.  In the first mode, the user
  12. selects a letter, and the program will display a word which starts with that 
  13. letter (text and a picture), and tell the user what sound that letter makes.  
  14. In the second mode, the program will display a picture and ask the operator 
  15. what letter the word represented in the picture starts with.  In the third 
  16. mode the program will display three pictures and one letter and will ask the 
  17. operator which word begins with the displayed letter.

  19. WHAT DOES BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS REQUIRE?

  21. BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS requires MS Windows 3.0 or greater running on a 
  22. 386 or greater computer with a Windows compatible soundcard.

  24. HOW TO SET UP BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS
  25.  
  26. All BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS files should be placed in a new directory 
  27. (c:\1st-ltrs).  The setup.bat program should be run to set up the    
  28. required subdirectories.  A new Windows program item should be created 
  29. using the FILE:  NEW command of the Windows program manager.  The 
  30. command line for the new item should be c:\1st-ltrs\1st-ltrs.exe 
  31. and the working directory should be c:\1st-ltrs.

  33. BOBBY'S FIRST LETTERS IS FREEWARE
  34.  
  35. The user of this program is granted a license to use this program 
  36. free of charge.  The user may also freely distribute this program as long
  37. as no fee is charged, and all associated files are included.  The author
  38. reserves all other rights, including the right to release future versions 
  39. of this program as shareware or shelfware.

  41. CAN I ADD NEW WORDS?
  42.  
  43. Sure.  If you want to add the word banana, just place a 160 x 120 bitmat
  44. picture of a banana and a .wav file of the word "banana" in the c:\1st-ltrs\b\
  45. directory and name them banana.bmp and banana.wav and the program should be
  46. able to find them.  There is a limit to two words for each letter.  This
  47. limitation in intended to make it easy for the author to improve upon this
  48. program  should he ever decide to release future versions for profit.
